Nowhere, California. Home sweet home, I guess. Not my first choice, but there's jobs, new houses, and a decent school, so I guess it could be worse. I wish they could do something about the mouse problem, though. It doesn't matter how many traps we lay down — they just keep on coming. I guess it makes sense, the land was probably full of them before they decided to build houses here, but you'd think they'd figure out at some point that humans live here and they're not exactly hesistant to kill them. This is getting scary My mom is sick and we're just hoping she doesn't have whatever this is how many people have noticed mice in their houses in the last few months? How are we suposed to avoid mice when they're in our houses? Is a headache one of the symptoms of the virus? I heard they actually have no idea how this thing spreads Does anyone know anybody who's gotten sick and recovered? I was really sick last month, now I'm wondering if it was the hantavirus. Anyone else have something similar? What are we supposed to do if someone in our family is sick??? This feels dystopian, we can't even go to the grocery store without worrying. I know this is a long shot but does anybody have extra mousetraps? we went to three stores but they're sold out everywhere.

Although this game is fictional, it is nspired by real events. Around the world, humans are encroaching on natural environments more than ever before, which can displace animals and force them into human environments. These conditions have negative effects for both humans and animals alike: animals lack access to the natural habitats where they thrive best, and they can pose a health risk to people. The best way to prevent this from happening is to oppose new building and devleopment in sensitive habitats and ensure that enough natural land is preserved that animals can retain their original habitat. Hantaviruses are a real group of viruses which, like in the game, are primarily transmitted to humans by close contact with mice or their urine or feces and can cause severe respiratory illness. However, the specific virus described is fictional, and no hantavirus that can be spread between people has ever been detected in the US.
